Community Service
Oak Harbor High School Community Service
For All Incoming Grade 8 - Grade 12 Students
At B.C.S., fostering civic-minded Rockets is a core value. Oak Harbor High School is committed to community service, dedicating a day for students in grades 8-12 to give back to the community. Completing 6.5 hours of service from June 1st to October 16th, 2023, will count as the first day of school for the 2023-24 academic year. Students in grades 8-12 are exempt from attending school on August 23rd, recognizing their valuable learning experiences through community service. Your commitment to community engagement is truly appreciated!
COMMUNITY SERVICE CRITERIA:
Documentation of 6.5 hours of community service is required.
All hours must be verified by a form signed by an official from the service organization or the community member with whom you volunteered.
Completed forms should be submitted to the front office secretary.
No compensation is allowed, and hours cannot be counted if completed during school-required hours or activities.
Each Rocket is responsible for organizing their community service activities and obtaining appropriate signatures.
Students who do not fulfill this requirement will receive a day of absence for the first quarter.
PLEASE NOTE:
Students in Grades 8 - 12 will commence their school year on August 24th.
On August 23rd, only Grade 7 students are required to report for orientation to familiarize themselves with the new building
At the conclusion of the previous school year, students received an explanation of this requirement, along with a community service log. An additional form is accessible via the button below for your convenience.
